Homework Policy
Students are to read 5 days a week for 20 minutes. Homework is given Monday, Tuesday, and Thursday. Homework must be turned in the day it is due. If they forget it at home they can bring it the next day, but then it must be given directly to me.I keep a checklist with each child's name for homework. Once it is collected, I check to see what they did. As long as they followed directions and I can see they did the work, the student will receive credit for doing the work.
Extra Credit Policy
I do not give extra credit. Students earn their grades. If they work hard, try, ask questions, and don't give up, their grades are an accurate reflection of their ability and effort in the classroom.
Late Work Policy
Students have 2 days for every day of absence to make up the work they missed. All missing assignments will be provided to the students when they return to school. Upon completion of the work, it is to be turned into the appropriate tray for the subject area. If a student does not turn in an assignment, I will give them a chance to complete it twice. After that, it will be done at recess. If they still do not turn it in, they receive a zero.
Grading Policy
If a student turns in an assignment and it is 2 days late, they will lose 10 points. The second time I ask, the student will lose 20 points. If I don't receive it after the 2nd request, the grade will be a zero.
Beginning in the second six weeks, I will take off 5 points for no name, as well.
Grading Scale
If a student scores less than a 60 on a paper, I will allow them to redo it. They have 24 hours after being notified to do this. Also, the student must take the scored paper home and bring it to me the next day signed by a parent or guardian.
Behavior Policy
Small Infraction
I will warn the student to change their behavior, I will pull the student to the side or hallway and talk to them about WHY are they acting this way. If it does not change, a parent will be contacted.
If the problem does not change, I will:
LARGE Infraction
Large infractions are instances when a student has hurt him/herself or another student or put him/herself or another student in danger. In this case, they will go straight to Mrs. Newell.

If the problem does not change, I will:
- Call the parent to ask for help
- Have the student conference with Mr. Tidwell, our counselor.
- Have the student conference with Mrs. Newell, our principal.
- After this point, it is out of my hands and Mrs. Newell will follow through with school discipline policy.
